We regularly run Arts Awards courses as part of our workshops at Rawtenstall Unity Centre. We are offering the Discover Arts Award and the Explore Arts Award (Entry Level 3), open to everyone age 5-25.
There are no entry requirements and no time limit for completing the award – we always work with children at their own pace and ability. The learning and activities in our workshops will count towards the hours needed to complete the award and receive their certificate.
The Awards are assessed on 20 hours work for the Discover Award, recommended by Trinity College, and 25 hours for the Explore Award, of completed work in portfolio form with a certificate on completion. They will each receive a Trinity College London Log Book, including stickers and a portfolio.
The cost of the Discover award is £12, Explore £24 which is to cover our costs only and includes all of the above; concessions are available.
If you would like your child to take part please get in touch for an application form. If you do not, this will not affect their usual enjoyment of our workshops.
What is an Arts Award?
Arts Award is managed by Trinity College London in association with Arts Council England working with 10 regional Bridge organisations.
Since its launch in 2005, the award has grown quickly and is now flourishing in arts centres, colleges, schools, community projects, libraries, galleries, local authorities, theatres and youth organisations.
It is a range of unique qualifications that supports anyone aged up to 25 to grow as artists and arts leaders, inspiring them to connect with and take part in the wider arts world through taking challenges in an art form – from fashion to digital art, pottery to poetry.
By progressing through the five levels, young people get to:
- discover the enjoyment of creating and participating in any art form
- experience working with creative arts professionals and arts events
- develop their creativity, communication and leadership skills
- explore the work of artists and craftspeople and gain insights into the professional arts world
- gain experience and knowledge to help progress into further education and employment
Through Arts Award, young people gain a nationally recognised qualification which can be achieved at five levels: four accredited qualifications and an introductory level. The highest level carries valuable UCAS points.
Arts Awards with Arty Party Rossendale
To achieve their Arts Award with us, young people will take on challenges in various art forms – fine art, which includes drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking; visual art, including some fine arts, contemporary and installation art; and decorative/applied art, encompassing pottery and glass art, decoupage, weaving, origami, mosaic, collage etc.
They will participate in various arts activities, both individually and in collaboration with fellow students, and take part in community arts projects, be inspired by artists, experience arts events and share their skills with others. They will build a portfolio to keep a record of their creative journey, which they will be able to keep. Along the way, they are supported by our Arts Award advisor who will be their assessor, facilitator and mentor and who is, in turn, supported by our regular volunteers.
When all moderation has been completed by Trinity College and certificates received, we will be hosting our Arts Award Ceremony, which will celebrate all the young people’s hard work and creativity and recognise their achievements.
Parents and carers, family and friends, local dignitaries and organisations will be able to enjoy selections of the young people’s artwork in an exhibition, which the young people themselves will participate in planning, designing and presenting.
We look forward to celebrating with you all.
